Facebook groups are the primary way expats in Hua Hin stay connected, find accommodation, buy second-hand goods, get local advice, and meet people. If you are moving to Hua Hin, joining the main groups should be one of your first steps.

The Main Groups

Dozens of Facebook groups serve the Hua Hin expat community. The most active and useful categories are:

  • General expat community: News, events, questions, local advice, social meet-ups
  • Buy & sell / free to a good home: Second-hand furniture, electronics, and household items, extremely useful when setting up a new home
  • Housing & rentals: Rental listings often posted before they appear on property portals
  • Pet lovers: Animal rescue, pet care advice, finding lost pets
  • Golf: Course updates, society events, looking for partners
  • Restaurant & dining recommendations: Where to eat, new openings, honest reviews

See our Facebook Groups directory for a list of active groups with links.

How to Get the Most from the Groups

  • Search before asking, most common questions have been answered multiple times
  • Be specific in posts, ‘looking for a dentist’ gets better responses than ‘anyone know a good doctor’
  • Read group rules before posting
  • Cross-reference advice, local conditions change and older posts may be outdated

Beyond Facebook

Some expat communities have moved partly to Line groups (Thailand’s most-used messaging app), WhatsApp, and Meetup.com. Once you join the main Facebook groups and attend a few events. You will naturally find your way into other networks.
