Having a Thai bank account is essential for expat life in Hua Hin. You need it to pay rent, utilities, and to meet visa financial requirements. This guide covers the main banks and what documents you’ll need.
Which bank?
Kasikorn Bank (KBank) and Bangkok Bank are the most expat-friendly options, with English-speaking staff at most Hua Hin branches. Bangkok Bank is also popular for international transfers due to its correspondent bank relationships.
What you’ll need
Requirements vary slightly by bank but typically include: your passport, your Non-Immigrant visa (tourist visa accounts are possible but restricted), proof of address in Thailand (a rental contract or letter from your condo), and sometimes a letter from your embassy. Call ahead to confirm current requirements as they change periodically.
The process
Visit the branch in person. Opening takes 30 to 60 minutes. You’ll receive an ATM card same day and can set up internet banking within a few days.
