Hua Hin has good private hospital facilities for a town of its size, and Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin and Hua Hin International Hospital cover most routine and emergency needs. For complex procedures, Bangkok is 3.5 hours away.
Health insurance
International health insurance is strongly recommended. Most private hospitals in Hua Hin will direct-bill major international insurers including Cigna, AXA, Allianz, and BUPA. Keep your insurer’s emergency number saved in your phone.
Costs without insurance
Outpatient consultations at private hospitals run THB 600 to 1,500. A one-night hospital stay can cost THB 10,000 to 30,000. Emergency care costs are significant, insurance is not optional for most expats.
The 30-baht scheme
If you hold a Thai ID card (such as on a Thai Elite or long-term resident visa), you may be able to access the government health scheme, which provides subsidised care at government hospitals.
