Reliable internet is non-negotiable for most expats. The good news: Hua Hin has decent internet infrastructure, and fixed-line broadband at most condo buildings is good enough for video calls, streaming, and working from home. Mobile coverage is strong in central areas with some patchiness further out.
Fixed-Line Broadband
Most condo buildings and houses have an existing broadband connection that you can add yourself, or the building may already include it in the rent. Main providers:
- TRUE Internet: One of the most widely available ISPs in Thailand. 100 to 500 Mbps plans. Reliable in most central areas.
- AIS Fibre: Strong coverage in Hua Hin. Competitive speeds and prices.
- 3BB: Another option depending on your building or area.
Monthly costs for a 100 to 200 Mbps package: 600 to 900 THB. For faster speeds (500 Mbps+): 900 to 1,500 THB. Setup fees sometimes apply. Installation takes 3 to 7 days.
Mobile Networks
The three main carriers are AIS TRUE Move H and DTAC (now merging with TRUE). All three have 4G coverage throughout Hua Hin. 5G is available in some central areas.
For a tourist or new arrival, a pre-paid SIM with data is the simplest option. Available at any convenience store or telecom shop. A pre-paid SIM with 30 days of data (10 to 20GB depending on speed tier): 200 to 400 THB. Longer-term post-paid plans cost 400 to 800 THB/month for generous data allowances.
Which Provider to Choose?
Coverage quality in your specific area should be the deciding factor. AIS typically has the strongest rural coverage. TRUE Move H is strong in urban centres. Ask neighbours and local expat groups which provider works best in your building, coverage can vary within a few streets.
