Hua Hin does not have its own airport. The nearest airports are Hua Hin Airport (small, limited services) and Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok, which is where most international flights arrive. From Bangkok, the journey to Hua Hin takes 2.5 to 4 hours depending on your chosen transport.

From Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport

Most direct options from the airport to Hua Hin:

  • Limo/private taxi: Door-to-door convenience. Typically 1,800 to 2,500 THB booked through the airport. Takes 2.5 to 3.5 hours depending on traffic.
  • Airport bus: Transport Co. runs an air-conditioned bus directly from Suvarnabhumi to Hua Hin bus terminal. Around 300 to 400 THB. Check current timetables at the arrivals hall.
  • Minivan + bus: Take the BTS Skytrain or metro to Morchit or Ekkamai bus station, then take a bus or minivan to Hua Hin. Cheaper but more complicated with luggage.

By Bus from Bangkok

Air-conditioned buses run frequently from Morchit (Northern Bus Terminal) and Ekkamai (Eastern Bus Terminal) in Bangkok to Hua Hin bus terminal. Journey time is roughly 3.5 to 4 hours. Cost: around 200 to 280 THB. Buses run throughout the day from early morning until late evening.

By Minivan

Minivans from Ekkamai (Victory Monument area) run to Hua Hin frequently throughout the day. Faster than buses (3 to 3.5 hours) and cheaper than a taxi. Cost: around 200 to 250 THB per person. Drop-off is typically at the main Hua Hin bus terminal or Khao Takiab area.

By Train

The train from Bangkok's Hua Lamphong station (or Bang Sue Grand Station) to Hua Hin takes 3.5 to 5 hours and is a pleasant, scenic journey. Prices are very reasonable (60 to 400 THB depending on class). Not as fast as minivan or bus, but comfortable for those who enjoy train travel. Book through the State Railway of Thailand website or at the station.

By Car from Bangkok

The drive from Bangkok to Hua Hin takes around 2.5 to 3.5 hours on the Phetkasem Highway (Route 4). Traffic out of Bangkok on Friday evenings and back on Sunday evenings can extend this significantly. Toll roads are an option for a faster route.

Hua Hin Airport (HHQ) currently operates a limited number of domestic and international services. Check current route availability before booking, services have changed significantly in recent years. Flying into Bangkok and transferring overland is generally more reliable for most origin cities.
